Overnight Backwoods lodging July 2 – 30 min drive. shuttle to Eielson 8am (8 hrs) to view scenery and look for wildlife. Overnight Backwoods lodging July 3 – second shuttle to Eielson, if needed, or just relax and do some hike. Fairbanks late night Eye on the Night sky.Overnight Backwoods lodging July 4 - Drive south with stop in Talkeetna. Explore Hatcher Pass/Independence Mine. Stay in Palmer at Pioneer Motel. July 6 – Drive through Whittier Tunnel to Whittier (3hr journey). Portage Pass Trail. Stay at Trail lake lodge in Moose Pass July 7 – 1 hour drive to Seward. Glacier/wildlife 7.5 hour cruise with Major Marine. Dinner in Seward. Stay at Trail lake lodge in Moose Pass. July 8 – Visit Kenai National Park. Drive to Anchorage for dinner. Stay at Aspen Suites. July 9 – 1 hr. trolley tour of city, views from Pt. Woronzof & Earthquake Park. Be at airport 2 hrs. before flight home.

July 2 – shuttle to Eielson (8 hrs) or Wonder Lake (11 hrs) to view scenery and look for wildlife. Be aware that mosquitoes can be bad at the lake, so if you go that far take along headnets and DEET. Overnight Healy. July 3 – part of morning in Denali? Drive to Matanuska Glacier (5 to 6 hrs) with stop in Talkeetna for flightseeing if desired. Overnight near the glacier. July 4 – morning ice hike with MICA or Nova. Drive to Girdwood (3+ hrs). Maybe swing by scenic Hatcher Pass/Independence Mine to explore, or stop in Anchorage to see Native Heritage Center or the Museum. The drive south of Anchorage is especially scenic so allow time for stops. Overnight Girdwood. July 5 – Wildlife Conservation Center (opens 8 a.m.). Drive to Homer (4+ hrs) with stops. Be sure to ask the company where it goes, what behaviors you can expect to see (fishing is the most fun to watch IMO), and how much time you can expect to be viewing bears. July 7 – part of the morning in Homer (Wynn Nature Center, Pratt Museum, explore the spit, hike). There is a negative tide of -0.52, at 8:33 a.m. not great for tidepooling but at least it’s a minus tide, so if interested get up early to look for tiny creatures left behind by the outgoing tide. Be sure to be back on shore when the tide starts returning. Drive to Seward (4 hrs). Maybe SeaLife Center and/or Ididaride sled dog tour. Overnight Seward. July 8– 7.5 hr. or longer glacier/wildlife cruise. After supper drive to Anchorage (3 hrs) to overnight. July 9 – 1 hr. trolley tour of city, views from Pt. Woronzof & Earthquake Park. Be at airport 2 hrs. before flight home. * * * *

Overnight Seward. July 8 – SeaLife Center, Ididaride sled dog tour. Drive to ANC doing anything you missed on the way down. Maybe an activity in ANC, and overnight. July 9 – 1 hr. trolley tour of city, views from Pt. Woronzof & Earthquake Park. Be at airport 2 hrs. before flight home. * * * *

Itinerary C Jun 30 - Land in anchorage (evening); pick up car rental Jul 1 - Pickup camping rental + supplies/food and drive to talkeetna for overnight; kayaking at Byers Lake Jul 2 - drive to denali in the morning; take shuttle to wonderlake campground for 2 night camping; either mckinley bar trail or walking around wonderlake that evening if there's time Jul 3 - shuttle to eielson visitor center for long day hike in that area (possibly around mt. eielson) and then back to wonderlake for overnight Jul 4 - Shuttle back to edge of park and drive to anchorage for overnight Jul 5 - Drive to seward in the morningw; Harding Icefield Trail / Exit Glacier hike. Jul 6 - Kenai Fjords glacier + kayak tour Jul 7 - Either summer dog sled tour or lost lake trail hike or kenai river float trip. Jul 8 - Back to Anchorage and roam around Jul 9 - return
